World’s First Microsurgical Ribbon Cutting Performed in Midlothian

Texas Eye and Cataract (T|E|C) officially celebrated the expansion of its presence in Ellis County with a one-of-a-kind milestone event: the World’s First Microsurgical Ribbon Cutting.

Held at T|E|C’s new state-of-the-art facility in Midlothian, the ceremony welcomed community members, healthcare partners, local leaders, physicians, and staff for a guided tour of the clinic and a closer look at the advanced ophthalmic technology now available to patients throughout the region.

During the ceremony, Dr. Deepak Sobti, founder of Texas Eye and Cataract, performed the ribbon cutting using microsurgical scissors after “scrubbing in” alongside his OR prep team. The moment symbolized the precision, innovation, and surgical expertise that define modern eye care at T|E|C.

“We’re excited to start writing this new chapter for eye care in Ellis County. We love our patients and hope our new facility shows our commitment to providing the best care possible to our community.” — Dr. Deepak Sobti

Texas Eye and Cataract has continued to grow in response to increasing demand for advanced ophthalmic care throughout Ellis County and surrounding communities. The new Midlothian location expands access to comprehensive eye care services, including advanced cataract surgery, glaucoma treatment, specialty consultations, and modern diagnostic technology.

Dr. Deepak Sobti was presented with a plaque recognizing his membership in the Midlothian Chamber of Commerce.

The ribbon cutting ceremony highlighted Texas Eye and Cataract’s ongoing commitment to patient-centered care, surgical excellence, and bringing leading-edge ophthalmology services closer to home for the Ellis County community.
